Demo day
A demo day is an event where a group of startups presents to investors, often at the end of an accelerator program. Despite the name, the presentation may be a short fundraising pitch rather than a live product demonstration. Formats vary from a few minutes on stage to prerecorded presentations and scheduled investor meetings.
The compressed format rewards a narrow story. A demo-day deck usually needs to establish the customer problem, product, evidence, market, team, and fundraising direction faster than a full partner meeting. It should create enough interest for a follow-up conversation rather than answer every diligence question. Founders often prepare a concise presentation deck and a more detailed send-ahead or follow-up version. Metrics need visible labels because investors may review the slides without narration later. Participation can provide attention and social proof, but it is not financing by itself. Teams still need a target investor list, a clear round process, and organized supporting materials after the event.
